Hexagram # 15 – Finding Moderation

I Ching Hexagram #15 Finding Moderation

“Let’s use the analogy that describes this period of time to a massive highway system that has thousands of different freeways available for you to travel on – or not, depending on what you choose…

Many of those freeways are traveling on the I Ching energy of Hexagram #36 CENSORSHIP. The text of The Book of Change warns about being directly confronted with forces that threaten your inner conviction and the attainment of your goals. Although difficult, this situation can help you learn to accept times of evil:

‘If one attempts to aggressively deny or ignore evil, then evil is often nurtured in one form or another. Good and evil are as much a part of the cosmos as night and day. It is much easier to develop a sound character once evil is acknowledged and accepted as part of the world.’ ~The I Ching Workbook, R.L Wing

A great number of other freeways are moving in the flow of Hexagram #26 DETERIORATION, #6 CONFLICT or even # 38 CONTRADICTION. As one might guess, those who are traveling through these are having things fall apart and experiencing a lot of opposition. If this is where you are at, The Book of Change warns against forging ahead with your plans. You will simply be advancing into #47 ADVERSITY or possibly even disastrous DANGER, #29. 

Luckily, there are also some freeways that are moving with the flow of MODERATION, Hexagram #15. ‘The predominant forces … are in the process of balancing extremes and harmonizing interests.’ ~ The I Ching Workbook, R.L. Wing

The ancient Chinese text description of MODERATION can be compared to the modern meme ‘everything in moderation’ where the best way to make progress is to disengage from extremes and opinionated attitudes and follow the guidance that comes from within. In almost any situation, if you are able to walk the middle road, there will be improvement in whatever you undertake.

Finding Moderation and Following that Path ~

As a general rule, MODERATION is a sensible flow to follow, especially when there’s too much chaos and confusion for you to tell what’s going on. In the midst of chaos, unpreferred karma (cause and effect) can be easily triggered. For many people, soul contracts have been completed or need to be released because they’re probably either:

  1. Feeling threatened, at risk or censured,
  2. Caught in the chaos of things splitting apart, or
  3. Seeking harmony and balance by letting go of extremes.

As you gaze at this Circle that accesses karmic seeds, see if you are currently experiencing one of these forms of karma. Ask yourself:

“Am I generally experiencing situation #1, 2, or 3?”

Maybe a mix of each depending on your mindset?

Whichever one it is, you can make your life easier by letting go of any karmic agreement that is complete – over and done with or that is causing you harm in any way.

Let Go So You Can Be Present

Use this Soul Contract Circle to help you identify and release the agreements. Simply gaze softly at the Circle while you use the affirmations. It can be helpful to imagine the agreements being pulled from the ground as you go through this process.

“I uproot any agreement to ignore, deny or support evil.”

“I let go of things that are falling apart or finished entirely.”

“I release patterns of behavior that support ignorance, co-dependency, extremism, deception or elitism.”

This is a good opportunity to clear your inner garden of any noxious weeds that are interfering with your family, friend or business relationships. Include organizations you’ve been involved with – religious institutions, political agendas, completed projects, places you’ve lived, modes of transportation, communication issues, ways of doing business, etc.

By doing so, you free up a lot of energy and effort that’s tangled up with the way things used to be or the way you wish they were.

Because of the chaos involved, making any kind of reliable prediction is next to impossible. You’re going to need all the presence and energy you have to help you during times such as these. Gently look at the next Circle while you affirm these helpful affirmations:

“My new agreement is to stay in the present and deal with what is honestly.”

“I make choices that keep me on a positive path.”

“I let go of _________. I prepare for __________. I take care of __________.”

 

“I make a choice to focus my energy on people and activities that are genuinely beneficial.”

 

“I decide to close the door on harmful distractions and pathways to suffering.”

Closure for Mind Body Healing

You probably feel a bit calmer now. If you’re willing, there are several other decisions you could make that could really improve your situation. Let’s continue with a couple of extremes that might be making it hard for you to find and stay on the road to MODERATION:

Extreme #1: The 24/7 syndrome.

Here is the prime example, ‘Being busy = being important.’ You might want to let go of that, because this is a terrible time to overload yourself.

“I close the doors to putting too much pressure on myself.”

“I close the doors to overwork, turbulence and chaos.”

“I decide that it’s okay to go for serenity.”

“It’s okay to slow down, catch my breath and relax.”

“It’s okay to make things easier and enjoy life.”

 

Extreme #2: The ‘if some is good, more is better’ extreme.

For example: The Sun is good, however too much Sun causes cancer. Butter is good, yet too much butter causes weight gain, etc. Another social meme that explains the mindset is: ‘There are no limits. I want it all.’

“I let go of extremes and unrealistic behavior.”

“Healthy limitations and boundaries can benefit me.”

“I decide that being calm and stable are healthy qualities to nurture.”

“I am now finding moderation in my behavior.”

 

 

Extreme #3: The ‘too many choices, not enough time’ extreme.

Heading off into fifteen different directions can cause panic, overwhelm and poor planning. Multi-tasking will probably blow you out of finding MODERATION. If you want to succeed, stop and make a choice about what’s most important for you right now.

 

Now it’s time to dissolve mental and emotional patterns that pull you off track. Use this symbol for dissolving destructive blueprints to identify and let go of  any societal or familial patterns that are still affecting you in a negative way. See them disappear as you send them to the Sun:

“I dissolve the destructive energy of this mindset and any connection I have ever had to it.”

 

Once the patterns are cleared, close the door to pathways that lead to trouble.

“All harmful pathways are sealed and healed.

I decide to get grounded and follow the path that’s most beneficial to me.”

For some people, finding MODERATION signifies an opportunity to go within and expel deep patterns of fanaticism within their psyche so that they can evolve and emerge from that pattern, much as a beautiful lotus emerges from the muck and mire at the bottom of a pond.

You can use this opportunity to plant new karmic seeds for MODERATION and any other useful qualities that you may need in the near or distant future.

“There are times when none of our efforts to solve a problem are effective and the way out of DANGER is blocked. Often, all that you may do is wait. When that is the case, there are still things that you can do to become more aware of yourself by learning from DANGER

‘Frequent encounters with DANGER are a part of life. Beyond making you inwardly strong, familiarity with DANGER, like the near brush of death, can instill in you a profound awareness of the life force and the mysterious nature of the cosmos. Such heightened awareness can bring new meaning, determination. and richness into your life.’ ~The I Ching Workbook, R.L Wing

Generally, the text from Hexagram #29 talks about DANGER that exists in your immediate environment. Responding correctly is really about Right Action – knowing when and how to take action with clarity of mind. Sometimes it’s best to take minimal action or do nothing at all. Awareness and keeping your wits about you are really the keys.”

Learning from Danger – A Transformation Game

This Game uses the Intuitive Learning Circles™ to help you gain a deeper understanding of the dangers facing you. For example, you may know that something is wrong, and not be able to put your finger on what it is. This game can help you identify it.

Or

Your desires could be leading you into danger time and time again and you’re not learning from it. You can use this game to explore what that is about and see if there’s something you can do to transcend the habit.

Step One: Access your Gut Instincts.

Simply relax and gaze softly at this Reiki Chakra Key to open and balance your Third Chakra located at your Solar Plexus (the soft area in the front where your ribs go up).

Step Two: Balance Your Senses.

When DANGER is present, It’s essential to see things as they really are. See if you can remedy any “blind spots” or confusion by gazing softly at this Reiki Chakra Key for the five senses, together with these positive affirmations:

“I reclaim and balance my five senses.”

“I use them to be present and make sense of my current conditions and environment.”

“I use them to be aware of DANGER and find helpful solutions.”

“I sense things the way they really are.”

 

Step Two: Uncover Your Awareness of the Danger.

Gaze at this Circle that accesses your intuition and unconscious awareness of a danger you are facing now. Imagine that you can gather up that inner library of experiences and see what kind of Soul Resources you can come up with. Take your time and let the information emerge. Ask yourself:

“What is the real danger about? Are there any objects in my environment that are dangerous to me? If so, where are they and how are they affecting me?”

“How much harm is this situation causing for me and for others?”

Step Three: See it Calmly and with Discernment.

The DANGER may be upsetting. Let this Circle help you tune your senses back to a comfortable level. They could have bumped up too high, too loud or intense. Gaze softly at the symbol and breathe for a couple minutes to gather up your wits and get calm again. If it helps, you can use this affirmation:

“I calm down and see things even more clearly.”

 

Step Four: Clarify the Right Action(s) to Take.

Use this Circle to help you identify possible solutions that you can honestly take upon yourself without placing yourself in further, unnecessary danger.

“What is an effective action I can take?”

“When and how might I go about doing that effectively?”

“Are there other helpful actions I could take?”

You might want to make a note of the suggestions that come. Times of danger can be filled with distractions that make it easy to forget. 

Step Five: Close the Doors to Actions that Escalate or Invite Further Danger.

Your unconscious mind knows what things are helpful and what things are harmful to your body, mind and spirit. Imagine that the harmful pathways in your mind are closing now. See them disappear, as if they were never there.

“All harmful pathways are sealed and healed.”

Congratulations on your newfound awareness about learning from danger!

By holding to fixed and virtuous ethics, by maintaining your inner vision and ideals, all things fall into a steady, tangible perspective. You will know your relationships to your environment, and in this way you can accomplish your aims. Intuitive Reading with the Book of Change

How to use the Intuitive Learning Circles™ to consult with important books of divination like the I Ching or The Book of Change ~

The I Ching is an ancient book of divination that follows and predicts movements and energy flow in the cosmos. Intuitive readings that recognize the Tao encourage us to find our place in the cosmos and harmonize with it.

“To move with the tao (or gate through which all things move) is to be in a state of grace.”

Come into alignment with the Tao – the underlying principles of Nature.

One of the best things about The Book of Change is that it’s uniquely equipped to help you understand the nature of your circumstances in relation to the ebb and flow of nature itself.

This symbol helps your mind tune into information regarding the “Tao” or the natural flow of life, which is what the Book of Change is all about.

It’s easy to do, just relax and gently contemplate coming into alignment with the Tao.

However, whenever I consult The Book of Change with the Intuitive Learning Circles™ I get very good results. With them, I am informed about key unconscious movements, concerns and decisions that need to be made within my psyche. For example, I often get forewarnings of unexpected or accidental encounters that I simply could not have been aware of on my own.

A simple sequence of Circles from Gifts from the Rainforest helps you frame a question or intention for an intuitive reading that you wouldn’t be able to formulate without a lot of experience. If you already have a particular question in mind or a choice that you’re considering, use it as a starting point.

This is the formula I use for insight into a variety of issues including health, timing and healing emotional dilemmas:


Activate Intuition

Begin by slowing down, so that you can get in better touch with the best intention for your reading. Gaze softly at this Intuitive Learning Circle™ for slowing down with an affirmation like:

“I slow down and bring my attention in, towards what’s truly important at this time.” 

 

Make sure the chakras for your senses are connected and balanced.

Mind Body IntegrationContinue enhancing intuition by bringing your senses into balance. Some may be turned up too high and some may be too low. Relax and allow your eyes to rest gently on the Circle below.

Take some deep breaths and let your shoulders drop. Adjust the volume to your senses. Do that both crossed and uncrossed over the midline of your body.

 

While gazing softly at this next Circle, sort through your mind like you would sort through a pile of messy papers on your desk when you’re looking for something. You come across a really important piece of paper that you didn’t know was there. Use the Circle to help you find it and pull it out.

Clarify Intention

Move your attention to this next Circle and ask your gut:

“What do I need clarity about?”

Be patient and wait for information or an intention to emerge. Whatever comes up, make a note of it. Unconscious information often doesn’t make sense at first. Usually, it’s a general subject, possibly one that isn’t currently on your radar. Go with it and refrain from trying to force things or second guess yourself.

Continue your investigation. What concerns you about this issue?

Hopefully, by now more details are emerging from the unconscious mind and you’re more aware of them. If you sense an important Soul issue, go to a Circle from Soul Prayer Charts to help you know what it is. Pick #1-24.

Determine the Emotional Environment

Is there a particular emotion(s) that’s causing distress?

Are you holding that emotion towards yourself? Towards others or others to self?

Is there a decision about yourself that you need to change?

An attitude, compulsion, obsession, or phobia?

Choose An I Ching Hexagram

The symbol below is from SOS Soul Oriented Solutions and can be used to go through any list of possible choices where you want your Soul to help you find the opening to a solution and determine what process will help you the best. All you need to be is open and ask for true assistance. It’s especially good at helping you make a choice, fine tune your intuition and listen to your gut feelings.

In the case of the Book of Change, there are sixty-four hexagrams that might have useful information for you. So gaze at the SOS symbol and experiment with it. Remember that in this case, you’re looking for information or advice that will help you deal with the situation you just came up with.

What number between 1 – 64 comes to you first? Follow your inner guidance. If your mind is blocked or blank go here>

SOS - Soul Oriented Solutions

Whatever number comes to you, open your Book of Change and go to that Hexagram. You might need to read the whole commentary or just a portion of it. There are also what is called “changing lines” and you might be guided to read one of those. It could even be just one sentence!

Once you’ve read the advice, you may understand the message immediately or you might want to continue to get an even more detailed understanding.

Synchronicity

For example, perhaps you’d like more information about timing or how to synchronize your response in the most effective way.

 

This symbol is about timing and synchronization. Let your mind gently contemplate the symbol. Remember, no forcing! The more relaxed you are, the better this works.

 

 

 

The whole point of consulting the I Ching is to help you see your situation clearly so that you’re able to make an effective plan for handling it. As you look at the Circle below, ask yourself: “In this situation, what is the best timing for effective action?”

or “How long will this period of time go on?”

 

“Is there any danger present now?”

“If so, will it pass on it’s own or should I do something?”

 

“What can I do specifically to help myself?”

“Is there a number in the I Ching that can help me with that?”

If a hexagram number between 1-64 comes to you, go to that hexagram and do what you did earlier – read the portions that come up as important. If a number doesn’t come up, continue on with the question below.

 

“What do I need to do now?”

and “How might I go about doing it?”

You may get a clear answer through the Circle itself or you could be given another hexagram number and/or changing line. It may be the same or it may be different. Keep following this line of questioning until you feel satisfied with your answers. Write them down so you don’t forget.

How To Be More Intuitive

This Mind Exercise* is about how to be more intuitive. Let’s start with the definition of intuition that I like to use:

“Intuition is an inner knowing available to us when all of the senses, known and unknown are balanced and able to receive information that is usually filtered out by the conscious mind.”

To have your own experience with how to be more intuitive, let’s go through this simple series of Intuitive Learning Circles™. They’ve been put together to help you relax, contemplate the nature of intuition and integrate the information.

Mind Body Integration

Mind Body IntegrationThe brain and body communicate through different channels when a part of you is crossed over the center of your body. If you feel resistant or stuck, cross or uncross a hand or foot over the midline of your body and go back to the Circle, breathing patiently. See if your thinking starts to move again. Let negative self-talk go by breathing through it.


Simply read the instructions and then follow through on the directions while you gaze softly at the Circle.

Step One: Slow down. Stop being in such a hurry.

It will help to imagine you can bring all the energy into focus on the center, open space of each Intuitive Learning Circle™.

 

Step Two: Let your senses get balanced. Some may be turned up too high and some too low.

You can adjust them like a radio dial until it feels just right.

 

Step Three: Intuition is an internal thing. Focus in on your heart center and let the energy get balanced and open there.

 

Step Four: Make sure you’re centered and balanced in your solar plexus as well (your solar plexus is that soft area in the front where your ribs go up.).

 

Step Five: In this quiet and more centered place, ask a simple question that you want guidance about. Listen for the answer.

What is your inner guidance?

Intuition is simple and straightforward, so if you’re getting a big convoluted answer, that probably isn’t intuition. Be patient and go through the exercise again.

Once you get a heartfelt answer, congratulations! You have accessed your intuition! You might want to make a note of what you came up with. The critical mind often doesn’t like to remember the quieter, gentler voice of intuition.

Future Pacing

In our hypnotherapy and energy medicine classes, we talk about the importance of future pacing. What is that?

Future pacing is a way to deepen the effects of any mind body healing by projecting a preferred outcome into the future. Let’s use that idea to solidify what you’ve just learned about how to be more intuitive.

Intuition out of balanceRemember that when intuition is out of balance, it tries to define “perfection” in extremes, which gives rise to fantasy, hallucination and wishful thinking. 

Let’s head that kind of intuition off at the pass right now!

Use these symbols and positive affirmations from The Essential Human to access the very best qualities to nurture your intuitive talents.

“I close the door on turmoil, panic and chaos. I now access serenity and calm.”

 

“I release my focus on conflict. I now open to peaceful and prosperous solutions.”

 

“I close the doors in my mind that lead to grumpy, hopeless, sarcastic or cynical behavior. I am now confident and resolute.”

 

“I release impatience, distractions and confusion. My actions now have purpose.”

INTEGRATION

Imagine that you can access your beneficial karma for being more intuitive. Gather all your good deeds in the center, blank area of this Circle.

“I access my beneficial karma for actualizing balanced and helpful intuition.”

“I plant new karmic seeds for the conditions I need to be more intuitive and to accomplish my heartfelt goals.” 

Completion

The mind intuitively appreciates closure. Let’s get present and grounded as we complete this mind exercise.

Place both feet on the floor and put your hands on your knees if you can. Gaze softly at the Circle and repeat the affirmation until you feel your body has fully settled in the present.

“I am grounded in the present.”

 

Ask yourself:

How will it feel to access my intuition in the future?

What about later today or tomorrow?

A month from now?

How does it feel a year from now?

Congratulations!

You can thank yourself for taking the time today to learn how to be more intuitive – a gift that will make your life a whole lot better!

Bring the energy of gratitude in towards the center and let it connect with your heart.

Finish it all up now by sealing and healing any pathways or holes that lead back to old, harmful patterns or suffering.

“There is an impressive display of DETERIORATION in nearly every aspect of current events with an abundance of incompetent persons in positions of authority. If you’re feeling hopeless, it’s because you’re getting lost in the chaos, rather than focusing on solutions. Ask yourself:

“What am I paying attention to and is it helping?”

 

You may be experiencing shock that’s interfering with your ability to relax and focus on what really matters. Relax and use this affirmation to help you release whatever you’re fixated on.

“I let go of fixations that are trapped in my mind. I let all rigid thoughts soften and melt away.”

 

There’s a great and accelerated DETERIORATION in matters that pertain to the old ‘status quo.’ This has been going on for some time now and those issues are part of a larger, collective movement in the Cosmos. There is little that you can do in the arena of the old economy so don’t waste your energy or attention on it. Do what you can to look beyond the apparent disasters and focus on what you would like to create instead. What is truly important at this time?

Calm yourself with this Circle so that you can perceive things more clearly. Turn down the volume and get your senses into balance.

 

In order to reorganize your priorities based on sustainable prosperity, it’s essential to clear and balance your heart. Gaze softly at this Reiki Chakra Key to clear negativity from your heart chakra. Take all the time you need to bring it into balance.

“My heart radiates with positivity.”

“I am balanced to make wise choices.”

You can use the Circles below in several ways to help you refocus on things that matter and that you can do something about. Start by checking with your inner guidance to notice if there’s a pathway in your mind that you habitually use that leads you back to the old paradigm based on fear. There may be more than one.

When pathways are unproductive, it’s helpful to close them in your mind entirely. Use your imagination and this next Circle to see them all closing. It’s time to choose other avenues that can lead you to a New Paradigm based on Love.

 

It’s dangerous to assume that you have already replanted everything important in the New Paradigm because aspects of your energy and wellbeing have been entrenched in the old paradigm until just recently.

“I let go of assumptions that limit my vitality, my freedom to choose or that lead me off track.”

“I now assume that I’m going to have to be mindful as I move forward.”

 

Use this Chakra Key to help you unshackle your energy from the old paradigm.

“I am free to use my energy to support my highest good.”

 

Slow down and use this Circle to help you let go of things – projects, plans, organizations, people – that no longer serve you. If you let everything move in slow motion, you can begin to sense the things that are holding you down or keeping you chained to the fear. You can let them go now. Your shoulders are relaxing.

 

Imagine that you’re standing in the center, open space of this Circle. Next, visualize all your gifts, talents and skills and place them in there with you. Do the same with other foundational aspects of your life, such as shelter, food, water and communication. Include your safety and stability needs. Imagine that the positive energies of courage, appreciation and gratitude are traveling down the lines – nurturing you and everything that’s important to your health and well-being.

Now visualize elements of the natural world that you would need to support and nourish your garden. Be sure you have your right livelihood, monetary support and sustainable prosperity. Include important goals and projects. Like plants that have been languishing without nourishment, they need to be replanted in healthy soil. Resolve to feed them with your joyful attention and intentions to help them grow and be strong.

Gather them all up in an interconnected web of gratitude and appreciation.

 

Now, you’re ready to disengage from harmful or out of date structures from the old paradigm that are disintegrating around you. You can use this symbol for dissolving destructive blueprints to detach from those struggles. Dissolve any negative mental or emotional attachments you have to danger, suffering, poverty or pain. It might help to imagine them like dark chains or clouds that dissipate into sunlight and clear blue skies.

Once the air is clear, imagine you can position yourself in the garden of sustainable prosperity or the New Paradigm. Place yourself in the center open space of this Circle. There may be other parts of you that are already there. If so, great! It’s time to join them.

Ask your Soul to replant everything you gathered up from the old paradigm in the best, most advantageous areas. Allow them to connect through the energies of Love, joy and cooperation, rather than fear, suffering and pain.

 

Surround the garden of sustainable prosperity with Love, courage, protection and light. This Circle can help you organize the energy correctly.

 

Now it’s important to confirm whether or not you’re heading in the right direction to properly nourish sustainable prosperity. The proper direction will feel light and calming.

“Am I heading in the correct direction now?”

Gaze at this Circle for several minutes until you feel confident that you’re heading in the direction of your highest good.

 

Finally, with this symbol, imagine that you can fill your being with Love, light and all the elements required for you to flourish in the new garden of sustainable prosperity.

“I am assisted in times of violence and fear.”

“I hold the victory of Love in mind.”

Clear Perception - Dog MedicineYour gut instinct is an awesome inner guidance system and it has access to all kinds of information that you’re not consciously aware of. The only trick is that you need to be paying attention! 

Luckily, you can learn to use Dog Medicine with this simple Mind Exercise to hone your intuitive abilities and develop clear perception.

How to Use this Mind Exercise for Clear Perception

Know When You’re Heading in the Wrong Direction

There are several reasons why you might be unconsciously heading in the wrong direction. One likely possibility is that you’re being distracted and confused by all the chaos going on around you.

Your senses may have gotten all knocked out of balance.  Fortunately, dog energy works incredibly well to help you with your inner guidance system – warning you to slow down and get your feet back under you.

Gaze softly at the Circle and take a moment to gather up all your senses. Bring them into balance so that you can perceive things more clearly.  Imagine you can adjust the volume for seeing, hearing, feeling, tasting and smelling! Take all the time you need.

Over Confidence

Another reason why a person could get off track might be that as two-leggeds, we often don’t like to admit that we need to ask for help and be willing to follow a trustworthy guide. Of course, our four-legged friends stand by us, even when we get super stubborn. Yet, wouldn’t it be better if we could just slow down a bit and listen to their advice before we plunge into the great unknown? Isn’t it possible that we could save ourselves from a tremendous amount of pain and wasted effort?

If you would like to find out, you can play the Mind Exercise below using the Intuitive Learning Circles™ to help you make friends with dog energy. If you follow these directions, you can get all kinds of insight and guidance. 

Get Your Feet Firmly Planted On the Ground

Relax and gaze softly at the center open space of this Circle while you repeat a few positive affirmations to yourself. If there’s a question, just be open to your gut response.

“I slow down because things may be moving too fast for me to sense the truth. “

“I’m willing to admit I don’t know what’s going on. Asking for help is a blessing.”

“Is my inner guidance sending me a warning?”

“Do I need to let go of something? Change something?”

“Does intuition want to redirect my attention to something else?”

“In either case, am I willing to listen and learn?”

You may be surprised at the answers that came to you. If it didn’t work, you can go back and do it again.

Be sure to check the directions again and follow them if you’re not sure.

 

Use this next Circle the same way and ask:

“Am I willing to trust in the power of not knowing?”

“Is the ‘vibe’ around me helpful or harmful?”

“I allow clear perception to heighten my instincts and intuition.”

Very interesting, isn’t it? We instinctively know when the “vibe” is right or wrong, but we often don’t trust the message we get. We doubt and second-guess ourselves or we might try to force our way through.

Look at the Circle again and ask, “Do I know what’s happening?”

“Can I tell about how long this has  been going on?”

“Do I want to trust my gut and inner guidance to see things as they really are?”

If you’re not clear yet, keep going with the exercise. You may need a few more easy corrections before the truth emerges.

 

Gut Instinct

Often, how well we listen to our inner guidance is affected by how present we are in our bodies. It’s called gut instinct because when we’re really present, we can feel it in our solar plexus (the soft area in the front where our ribs go up).

You can use the Circle below with its positive affirmations to help you become more aware if you’re feeling mixed up or confused. Just relax and breathe while you gently look at it for a couple of minutes. Feel free to move at anytime in any way to help you embody your experience…

“I am present and facing the truth.”

“I face the facts.”

Use Dog Medicine to Handle Your Agreements Appropriately:

Another reason why we might not understand what’s going on could be because there’s some kind of a problem with an agreement or commitment we’ve made on some level. In this busy, modern life, people tend to take their agreements too lightly and don’t realize how important their word is. Perhaps it seems like too much effort or too complicated. However, if you really want to stay on track, being clear about your agreements is super important. Especially agreements that you’ve made with yourself!

Here’s some tips about how to handle agreements successfully:

  1. We can keep our agreements and stay in integrity with our word.
  2. We can release agreements when they’re done or no longer serve us.
  3. Or, we can consciously re-negotiate them when they need to be changed.

It’s also a good idea to pay attention if someone hasn’t been keeping their agreements with us. If that’s happening, dog medicine suggests that it’s best to deal with the indiscretion asap. When we allow someone to break their word with us and say or do nothing about it, we lose our own integrity by being disloyal to ourselves.

It’s okay. Things change and so do our priorities. To help you identify problem agreements, use this Circle to help you slow down again. Focus on yourself and your current goals.

“I bring my senses back into balance. I see myself and my goals as they really are in the present.”

 

Once you can perceive clearly, you may ask yourself:

“Am I trying to keep agreements that are harmful to me?” “Is it time to renegotiate a pertinent agreement?” or “Am I ignoring an important agreement that I need to follow through on?”

If so, can you tell what they are?

If you ignore them, they may turn around and bite you!

Use this Soul Contract Circle to imagine that any harmful agreements you may have with yourself are like contracts that can be burned. Use the Circle to visualize all those contracts burning up into ashes. Here’s some affirmations to assist you if you like:

“I release all agreements that no longer serve me.”

“I let go of _______________.    I stop ____________________.”

Possible new agreements could be:

“I am loyal and true to my Self. My needs are a priority.”

“I have faith in my Self. I take good care of my Self.”

“I ________________________________.”

Use Dog Medicine to Help You Sniff Out the Truth:

To complete the correction in your perception, it’s important to realize where your attention has really been. Use the Circle below like you did with the others and see if you can determine what you’ve been focusing on consciously or unconsciously that isn’t in your best interests.

“What have I been paying too much attention to?”

“What action(s) do I need to take to truthfully correct the situation?”

 

It’s very important that you be paying attention to your own actions and use your beneficial karma to create your life. Imagine those beneficial actions you’ve taken in the past are all gathered like seeds in the center of this Circle. Imagine that positive life force is traveling down the lines towards your karma, nourishing them and encouraging them to grow!

 

Now it’s time to redirect your attention to helpful people, opportunities and places. For additional help, ask these questions:

“Who and what is most important to me at this time?”

“What is my natural place in this situation – where do I belong?”

“Am I in the New Paradigm of love and co-operation or the old paradigm based on fear and greed?”

 

Finally! It’s time to close the door on all those misuses of your time, attention and energies.

 

“I close the door on any drain or strain on my time, space, attention or energy.”

“I follow the direction of healthy protection.”

“I trust the wisdom of dog medicine.”

Congratulations! 

You now have clear perception about what’s really important to you – and you have some guidance about what to do about it. Not only that, you’ve just gotten a key insight that’s going to save you a lot of trouble in the long run!

Know When Someone Is Lying

Did you know that you instinctively know when someone is lying to you?

Know When Someone Is LyingYour gut instinct is the best lie detector and has all the information it needs – as long as you’re present and paying attention! It’s just that for some reason, the information is being blocked from your conscious awareness and you can’t see the signs.

Play Our Free Online Mind Exercise to Hone Your Gut Instinct and Develop Your Intuition

There’s a lot going on in today’s social and political landscape that is pretty shocking. Unfortunately, shock can keep us from being able to see lies that are sitting right in front of our noses. That’s why we’re going to start this game by clearing out any shock that might block your ability to know when someone is lying. Take several deep breaths and relax while you look at this Circle that releases shock and inner conflict.

Imagine you can use it to focus in on a conflict or rigid thought that’s preoccupying your mind at the moment. 

If your mind is blank or frozen, focus on how “blank” or “frozen” it is. You may get a conscious image or message, or you may not.

Once you have a sense that your mind has found the blockage, imagine you can send a beam of light directly to it. 

Allow your laser beam to break up the fixation until it’s gone.

Check for other blockages or conflicts that you can do the same with. Once you’ve done that, you’re ready to continue with the main exercise…

Know When Someone is Lying to You

There are several reasons why you might not know when someone is lying to you. One reason could be that you have a “blind spot.” For some reason, you’ve been conditioned to not see certain things coming. You may be able to remedy some of that by gazing softly at this Reiki Chakra Key, together with these positive affirmations:

“I reclaim and balance all of my senses.”

“I use them to be present and alert.”

“I use them to sense what will keep me safe, productive and well.”

“I can clearly sense what will help me to _______________.”

Another possibility could be that you’re being distracted. Distractions are a liar’s best friend, because if you’re not paying attention, they can get away with all kinds of things. 

To see if this is the case for you, experiment with one of our Intuitive Learning Circles™ that helps you focus your attention. If you follow the directions, you can get useful answers that could really help you out.

All you have to do is relax and gaze softly at the center open space of this Circle while you ask yourself a couple of questions. Be sure to be receptive and listen for the answer that comes.

“Am I being lied to?”

“if so, do I know who it is? Male or female? More than one person?”

“Could it involve an idea or project I’m working with? Is something based on a lie I don’t know about?”

“Am I unwittingly lying to myself?”

You may be surprised at the answers that came to you. If it didn’t work, you can go back and do it again. 


Mind Body IntegrationBe sure to check the directions again and follow them.

It can help to  gaze softly at the Circle both crossed and uncrossed over the midline of your body for full integration. 

Feel free to move at anytime in any way to help you embody your experience!


If the answer you get is “no, I’m not being lied to,” count yourself lucky, you’re a very fortunate person! If the answer is “yes” or “maybe”, you might want to continue with the following extra-intuitive activities to see what’s going on and get some emotional healing around the issue.

Extra Intuitive Activities

Another reason why we might block information about lies is because we don’t want to believe it! Of course, this is understandable, yet the liars could really be doing some damage. If you know when someone is lying you could save yourself from a tremendous amount of damage.

Use this next Circle the same way and ask:

“Am I willing to know when someone is lying?”

“Am I willing to know what the lie is?”

“Is it helpful for me to know in this case?”

“If I’m not willing, am I open to the possibility?”

Very interesting, isn’t it? We instinctively know when someone is lying, but we often don’t want to know. Look at the Circle again and ask, “How much damage has been done?”

“About how long has this been going on?”

“Do I want to shift my perspective and see things as they really are?”

If you’re not clear what the lie is yet, keep going with the exercise. You may need a few more easy corrections before the truth emerges.

A lot of times, how we see these things is affected by how present we are in our bodies. Perhaps we don’t want to face it and it seems easier to just look the other way. Having courage to face the truth is one of the most important things we can develop in ourselves. A mind without courage cannot expand and learn new ways of being.

Use this Circle to help you remember a time when you had the courage to face the truth and do what needed to be done. Once you find it, relax and let that feeling integrate.

“I have the courage, the resources and the capacity to face the truth.”

 

If you are under the influence of a lie, it can be very useful to release your agreement to fall under its spell. Use this Soul Contract Circle to imagine that the lie (or lies) are like contracts that you can burn. Use the Circle to visualize all those contracts burning up into ashes. Let these affirmations assist you if you like:

“I release all agreements to be used, entrapped or taken advantage of.

I discard any tendencies to be careless, foolish, misguided or cheated.”

“It’s okay to take care of myself. I protect myself against lies and deception. I know what to do.”

Sometimes it’s really important to face the truth and understand what is required of us to change. Use the Circle below like you did with the others and give yourself a chance to reorganize your awareness.

“I reorganize my mind to trust my gut instinct. I naturally know what to do.”

Now that you’re clearer about what’s really going on, it’s good to be sure that you’ve shifted directions.

“Am I heading in the direction of truth?”

If you aren’t, take a few minutes to let this Circle help you make the correct adjustments.

Once you’re sure you’re heading in the right direction, finish this mind exercise by asking yourself this important question:

“What is the best thing for me to do in this situation?”

Congratulations! You now know when someone is lying to you – and you know what to do.

You’ve just given yourself an amazing gift that’s going to save you a lot of trouble in the long run. Be sure to close the door on old emotional channels of pain.

“All holes are sealed and healed. I follow the direction of healthy protection.”

SOS - Develop Healthy BoundariesMany people, especially those who are highly sensitive or empathic, want to learn how to develop healthy boundaries because they are so open to thoughts and energies coming from other people. Sometimes those thoughts get attached in their minds and spin around, causing a great deal of discomfort.

If the pathways remain open, all kinds of trouble (karma, issues, illness or confusion) can pass back and forth between people without their awareness. If left unchecked, this type of attachment can eventually manifest in negativity, sudden and mysterious illnesses, mental confusion, issues with prosperity or chronic states of overwhelm.

It’s a  valuable skill to know how to shift your energy.

Let yourself breathe and relax as much as possible. Don’t worry if the images move around or change in any way. That just means the Circles are working and that your mind and body are relaxing.
Be sure to go through the entire formula and at the end, give yourself time to rest and integrate. Developing a quiet mind and light heart changes your perspective and that makes it easier to accomplish your goals.


1. Begin by consciously breathing in on the count of three and slowly exhaling on the count of five. It’s helpful if you can breathe in through your nose.

Do that three or four times while you gently focus on this Circle.
Continue breathing and bring your awareness to your tailbone.

Balance – What do you need to get in balance about?

 

2. Keep breathing with your belly soft and relaxed.
Let your shoulders drop.
Gaze softly at the Circle and imagine you can turn down the feelings or thoughts that are turned up too high, just like the volume on a radio dial.

Calm – What are some thoughts that relax you?

 

3. See if you can collect any noisy thoughts or distractions into the center of the Circle. You may sense something like a web or a bunch of strings that have gotten all tangled up with each other or you may get a sense of an open, gaping hole. Whatever it is, bring it all into the center.

Gathering – Are there any distractions to let go of?

 

4. Now that you have all the distractions gathered up, let the next Circle help you close that gaping hole or any other open pathways between you and all those noisy thoughts.
Keep closing the hole until all pathways are completely sealed and healed.

Protection – Is there anything you need to say goodbye to?

5. Now you’re ready to shift your attention. Breathe in and exhale. Beauty is everywhere. Consciously turn your attention to it.
Take your time and let the Circle help you call the most majestic, inspiring scene into your mind that you can imagine. Form a mental picture of what it’s like. Imagine the sounds and how it would feel to be there.

Beauty – What is a beautiful place you remember or would like to go to?

 

6. Come back to your breathing again and notice how calming it is.
You can sense the steady rhythm of your heart.
The gentle expansion and contraction of your lungs.
Breathing in and letting go. Learning to trust.

Trust – What do you trust? Could anything be done to increase your sense of trust?

 

7. Give yourself permission to slow down and turn your attention to what really matters to you. Can you name what’s most important?
Let the Circle help you lift any pressure you may feel right up off of you.
Without all that pressure, it’s easier to know what your true priorities are.

Intention – What’s important to you now?

 

8. Gather your resources and get present in your body. Put your feet on the ground and feel your connection with the Earth.
If you like, you can stretch or move around in any way that feels good.
Flexing your fingers and toes can really help you become more aware.

Presence – What do you feel in your body?

 

9. Imagine with each new, relaxing breath you are able to fill your heart with compassion and understanding for yourself.
Let any heaviness you feel lift up and out of you.
Dark clouds are dissolving into blue skies and sunlight. Your mind is clear.

Surrender – What is something you can do that expresses love?

 

10. Before you finish this formula, make a commitment to stay centered and follow through on your priorities. Your health and happiness are important.
You can easily deflect other people’s thoughts or expectations.
It’s genuinely joyful to have a quiet mind and a light heart.

Resolution – What other joyful decisions can you make?

11.  Use the Circle to help you finish closing any remaining pathways that would lead you back to the noise and distractions of the external world.
Close the doors and seal the leaks – as if they were never there.
You are calm. Your mind is able to rest now.

Completion – How do you feel now?
